Dr. Bernadene Magnuson is professor of food and nutrition
at the University of Maryland, where she conducts research on food toxicology,
diet and cancer prevention. She also teaches food science and toxicology.
Dr. Magnuson has published numerous peer-reviewed articles,
book chapters, abstracts and professional articles, is on the editorial board of
two journals and is an active member of various committees of the Institute of
Food Technologists and the Society of Toxicology. Dr. Magnuson was the lead
author of an expert review of the safety of aspartame entitled Aspartame: A
Safety Evaluation Based on Current Use Levels, Regulations, and Toxicological
and Epidemiological Studies published in Critical Reviews of Toxicology
